Visitor Parking Information

A visitor is any person on the campus of UNC Asheville who is neither a student, graduate student, NCCCR student, service personnel, Board of Trustees member, facility user, nor a faculty, staff, temporary employee, or adjunct faculty member.

Visitor Parking permits may be obtained from the Parking Division of University Police, located in Vance Hall (see Campus Map). The Parking Division office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. All Visitor Parking permits must be hung from the rearview mirror with the printed side facing outward toward the windshield so that all information is visible from outside the vehicle. Visitors who receive a parking citation may turn them in to their host/hostess or bring them to University Police in Vance Hall. If a visitor has not received a citation on campus before, citations are often dismissed with a warning. Visitors who receive a warning citation will be billed for all future violations. Be advised that all visitors parking on campus are subject to all UNC Asheville Parking Regulations.

Other Parking Permits

Handicapped Parking Permits:
All valid handicapped placards and license plates, as defined by NC G.S. 20-37.6, will be honored on campus. However, handicapped placards and/or license plates may not be used in lieu of a valid parking permit. Emergency or fire lanes, service vehicle spaces, visitor spaces, reserved spaces, and no parking zones may not be used for handicapped parking.

State law requires a doctor’s note that states the duration of need to be submitted before the permit can be issued. Persons displaying a Temporary handicapped placard are entitled to the same parking considerations and restrictions as the those individuals displaying permanent handicapped placards and/or lisence plates. Persons whose need exceeds three weeks must obtain a state-issued placard and/or license plate from the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles. Temporary handicapped placards issued by UNC Asheville are valid only on campus.
