The Transportation Office's mission is to provide transportation
options to students, faculty, staff, and the broader community so that university
resources may be focused on the educational mission of
UNC Asheville. The Transportation office
will do this by promoting and marketing all forms of transportation including: walking,
biking, carpooling, busing and driving. Transportation management decisions uniquely
designed for UNC Asheville will be based on fiscal constraints, personal health &
wellness, environmental principal, sustainability and equity.
These principles will be
accomplished through marketing strategies, clear wayfinding designs, partnerships and
community education. The transportation mission seeks to be in accordance with the UNC Asheville
mission statement. The multimodal approach allows students to develop a broad
perspective and think critically about how resources are used and how incentives are
deployed.
By promoting multimodal transportation options, the Transportation office
seeks to serve the region and the state by reducing air pollution and vehicular traffics
impact on roadways and congestion. This new way of looking at transportation management
aligns with the university mission by promoting the idea that our campus community is
made up of contributing citizens of a changing society.
