The cost of the program is greatly affected by the value of the U.S. dollar versus the British pound and the fee structure set by Bath University. The price will be set the fall before the program is scheduled to begin.
Fees for 2006 are $2900 for full participants, and $1450 for family members.
UNCA sponsors the Summer Science Teacher Program at Bath, but does not subsidize it. The program is non-profit and completely fee supported. The expense categories are housing, tuition and overhead. Tuition provides for the facilities of the College of Education, as well as the British educators who work with the program. Overhead includes items such as recruiting expenses, 
van rental for transportation to British schools, sightseeing and field trips, and hospitality expenses for the social events sponsored by the program. The participant fee covers housing, tuition and overhead. Many school districts and granting agencies will provide financial support for programs such as this. Be sure to inquire. The spouse/child fee covers housing and a share of the overhead.
The fee does not cover air fare. We will work with one of the airlines or travel bureaus to develop a group rate if enough people can leave from a common airport. The traditional format for charter groups is not feasible for those wishing to do a lot of pre- and post-program travel. You should make the best deal you can from your location to enjoy complete flexibility in designing an itinerary that suits your overall travel plans.
Spouses and older children are permitted to accompany participants. Children will occupy single rooms close to their parent(s). Spouses and children pay a reduced fee (50%).
