The curricular activity of the UNCA Summer Science
Teacher Program focuses on four themes:

The 50 plus hours of scheduled class time in this program will be principally devoted to lectures, discussions or demonstrations by members of the Bath University and UNCA faculty, as well as educators (both administrators and teachers) from local school systems.  Other activities will include small group field trips to British schools (in session) at your teaching level and visits to other resource centers.  There will be opportunities for British and American educators to describe and compare various aspects of the teaching profession.

As part of your classroom experience at Bath, you will be enrolling in one module of the International Summer Science program.  Teachers from over 50 countries participate in this program leading to one of three levels of advanced certification in education.  Should you be interested, you will be eligible to discuss continuing on with this program and completing an MA in education or other certificate program in later summers from Bath University.  Please contact the UNCA director for more information.

Schedule

The exact schedule for the course will depend on the graduation ceremonies at Bath University and the availability of campus housing.  The four week course is normally scheduled for the month of July.

Dates for 2006 are June 28th through July 25th
