England Summer Study and Travel
Summer Science Program at Bath University
Course Work Location Housing Fees

During alternate summers The University of North Carolina at Asheville, in cooperation with Bath University in England, offers a four-week comparative summer science course for teachers (K-12), administrators and higher education science professionals.

The course offers an opportunity for education professionals to learn about the National Curriculum being implemented in England.  This curriculum focuses on an integrated and global approach to science education.

The program provides you with:

  • A personal insight into different approaches to the teaching of science - a rewarding professional experience.
  • Four weeks in a very pleasant residential base that is nicely situated for sightseeing around Bath and throughout the lower half of the British Isles and Wales.
  • Special field trips to areas of environmental interest.
  • A schedule that promotes many educational sightseeing trips to museums, cathedrals, castles, beautiful old villages, and scenic areas.
  • A "summer camp" type of companionship experience with teachers and administrators from all over the U.S. and England, as well as the many countries represented in the CEIC.
  • One extended field trip, depending on interest, to either Snowdonia National Park in North Wales or the Highlands of Scotland (four or five days for a small additional travel expense)
If you consider what the cost of bed-and-breakfast housing for four weeks would be and compare that type of European vacation with the fun educational community at Bath, this program is a real bargain and an exciting learning opportunity.  Plan on joining us.
