Vision
The Intercultural Center is a resource to be utilized by the entire UNC-Asheville community. Students, faculty, and staff are assured that everyone—regardless of race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status—is welcomed in this safe space. Furthermore, the center is multipurpose and students are encouraged to gather, study, and socialize within its corridors.
The center is as a site of self-discovery. Moreover, the center’s programming is intentional and explores cultural traditions. Its staff is dedicated to creating opportunities for students to engage in skills-building that lead to lifelong learning for intercultural communication and healthy individual and group esteem. Students can communicate their concerns on issues of racism, sexism, privilege, social justice, and homophobia. By doing so, they align themselves with the Intercultural Center’s focuses of social responsibility, cultural sensitivity and awareness, and equity.
