Requirements
 Students
are required to have Anti-virus software installed and and set to auto update.
Virus infected computers will be
disconnected from the network. (Go to our
Help page for instructions.)
Windows
PC users are required to have Windows OS critical updates. To do this, go
to:
www.windowsupdate.com
Students are
required to bring or purchase an Ethernet Cable for Internet connection in Dorm
rooms.
Students are
encouraged to have a usb storage drive to save data in the labs on campus.
UNCA does not make computer recommendations, but there are minimum functional requirements for our network. For the most part, any new computer purchase will meet these requirements.
PC Minimum Requirements:
- Intel Pentium processor or equivalent running XP
Professional or XP Home, Vista
- At least 256MB of Random Access Memory
- 1GB of free
hard disk space
- An Ethernet card and cable
- CD-ROM drive
Macintosh Minimum
Requirements:
- PowerMac Platform running OSX
10.3 or better with built-in Ethernet
- At least 256MB of Random Access Memory
- 1GB of free
hard disk space.
