Transferring courses to UNCA
Academic courses from a regionally accredited institution will transfer to UNCA, provided the grade earned was a "C" or better, and the courses are compatible with our curriculum and mission. UNCA accepts all transferable courses. However, all students are expected to complete a minimum of 60 hours at 4-year institutions in order to earn a baccalaureate degree. In addition, all students must complete their final 30 hours in residence at UNCA. Therefore, transferring more than 60 hours from a 2-year school, or 90 hours from a 4-year school increases the number of hours required to graduate beyond the 120-hour minimum.
Class Standing
Your class standing is determined by the number of transferable hours presented at the time you are accepted to UNCA. An updated evaluation will be done as additional transcripts are received.
● Sophomore = 30-59 transferable hours
● Junior = 60-89 transferable hours
If you have fewer than 24 transferable hours, you will be classified as a transfer student with freshman standing. While you will need to submit a transfer application, you will be evaluated within the context of other students who are applying for spaces in the freshman class. Appropriate consideration will be given to your college-level work.
TRANSFER COURSE EQUIVALENCIES
Please be aware that this list is not comprehensive. Courses are continually being added, removed or updated to reflect changes in the catalogs of the various schools as well as changes in the curriculum at UNCA. Also note that equivalencies and requirements may change without notice.
If you have any questions about transferring courses to UNCA, please contact the Transfer Evaluator, Thomas Coonan, at (828) 250-3848.
Below is a list of Symbols that we use in the list:

* used to mark courses at other institutions that have more or fewer credit hours than the equivalent course at UNCA
( ) the number of credit hours of a course appears within parentheses (there is no number beside the UNCA course if it has the same number of credit hours as the equivalent course at the other institution)
