Schedule a Fitness Assessment at fitness@unca.eduFitness AssessmentsUNC Asheville Campus Rec-Wellness offers fitness assessments to evaluate your current fitness level through a series of non-invasive tests. Your confidential fitness assessment includes: blood pressure & resting heart rate, height & weight, body fat , aerobic fitness (bike test), flexibility test (sit & reach), and upper body strength test (barbell curl). It takes less than an hour to get on the right track to fitness. If you have any questions after reading this, please feel free to contact the Health & Fitness Center at 232-2881. How to prepare for your fitness assessment
1. Do not take any medications or supplements outside of your normal prescribed medications or daily multivitamins. Especially avoid any supplements or medications that may contain stimulants such as caffeine, ephedrine, etc. 2. Do not eat a heavy meal within three hours of the assessment. Also, make sure you are properly hydrated the day of the assessment by drinking plenty of water. 3. If you are a coffee drinker, please do not exceed two cups of coffee. Abstain from caffeine and sugar prior to your assessment. 4. Make sure you are feeling well the day of the assessment. If you feel as though you are getting sick (sore throat, sneezing, muscle pains, etc), please reschedule your appointment. We want you to perform to the best of your ability. 5. When dressing for your assessment, wear clothing that allows the tester to reach your arms and thighs. T-shirt and shorts work well, however any spandex-type materials make it difficult to obtain accurate measurements. Please wear undergarments!! 6. Because of the close contact nature of the assessment, we ask that you protect your tester from germs, bacteria, & other transmittable viruses by engaging in good personal hygiene practices (i.e. showering) for your test. 7. As always, when beginning a new physical activity program, please consult your physician prior to participating. |
