Wilderness Experience![]() ![]() ![]() UNCA Outdoors’ Wilderness Experience trip is an adventure based, student led, orientation program for new and transfer students. This trip does not replace the more traditional Summit Orientation, but rather supplements it. Each year this trip gets bigger and better! Last year we had 130 students participate. Space is limited and several people on the wait list were unable to attend. Please sign up as soon as possible. For August 2008 Incoming Freshmen and Transfer StudentsThe Big Adventure, August 10th - 14th This trip into the wild areas surrounding Asheville departs the week before the Summit Phase II orientation. You'll move into your residence hall, say goodbye to your folks, and head to the woods with our experienced student leaders! We'll camp at a large group camping area, and each day a new adventure awaits-backpacking, climbing, caving, mountain biking and whitewater rafting by day, meeting new people and learning more about UNC Asheville around the campfire by night. See North Carolina by Water, June 16th - 20th Mountains, Piedmont and Sea, we will do it all on this week of adventure! Spend two days sea kayaking the coast, a day floating down the Dan River and a day of canoeing in the beautiful mountains outside of Asheville. Get to know the waterways of the state as you're getting to know more about your new college home! Canoeing, Caving, and Camping in Tennessee, June 23rd to 27th Do you like crawling through muddy rock formations and experiencing total darkness? Spend time with us exploring Popular Cave! Do you enjoy paddling down a gorgeous stretches of river and camping in pristine wilderness areas? This is the trip for you! Costs for all trips is $250 and includes food, instruction, and equipment.
