Sport Club Council

The Sport Club Council will consist of one representative from each sport club and two SGA members. The council is established to accomplish the following:

  • To govern the allocation of student recreation fees allotted to sport clubs by the administration of UNC Asheville.
  • To formulate and enforce procedures which facilitate the development of the Sport Club program.
  • To act as a liaison between the members of the Sport Club Council and the University Administration.
  • To act as a conduct board governing all indiscretions and violations of policies and procedures and impose penalties including monetary penalties and membership penalties up to and including loss of funding and expulsion of member clubs or their participants.
  • To encourage and support the establishment of new sport clubs.
  • To market and promote all sport clubs.
  • To actively seek new membership in the SCC from within the University community.
  • The council is advised by the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation. The council is governed by the constitution below.


UNC Asheville Sport Club Council Constitution



Article I Official Name:
The official name of this organization shall be the University of North Carolina Asheville Sport Club Council. For the remainder of this document the organization will be referred to as the SCC.


Article II Affiliation:
The SCC shall have an affiliation with the Campus Recreation Department here at UNC Asheville.


Article III Adherence to Policy and Procedures:
The SCC will adhere to all University rules, funding regulations, policies, and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. It will also enforce the aforementioned policies and procedures on sport clubs and members


Article IV Purpose:
The SCC will support and encourage co-curricular learning and opportunities inherent in the leadership of student based organizations and will encourage and nurture student leadership opportunities. The SCC will represent and promote the Sport Clubs as a whole to the greater campus community and provide a venue through which students can create new Sport Clubs and where current clubs can enhance and grow their organizations.This will be done by:

  • Providing guidance to member clubs on relevant policies, issues and activities.
  • Assisting in the new club recognition process.
  • Promoting adherence to the Charter of the SCC and its bylaws.
  • Providing an annual recommendation during the budget allocation process and allocating funds to appropriate clubs based on the total amount budgeted to the SCC.

Article V Advisors:
The SCC shall be accountable to the department of Campus Recreation and responsible for sport clubs of the department. The primary advisor for the SCC is the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation: Sport Programs. This advisor will attend all meetings of the SCC and will hear all findings and reports of the SCC. This advisor will also be the tiebreaking vote during voting procedures, but otherwise has no voting rights.


Article VI General Responsibilities:
The council will meet once a month with the possibility of additional meetings for special issues. Members are expected to adhere to all University Policies and procedures and the code of conduct handbook that guides sport club organizations.
