Mission Statement

As a central part of the university community, the mission of the Campus Police Department is to maintain a safe, secure and peaceful environment with a positive social atmosphere where meaningful learning can take place.

Core Values

Community Concern                                                       We value input from our community and will work alongside community members to meet their needs.

Problem Oriented Policing                                       Through formal and informal contact with the public, we will strive to correct problems which may detract from a person's safety or feeling of security.

Respect and Responsibility                                            We will treat every member of the community, under similar circumstances, with respect and assume responsibility for our actions.

Goals

To provide professional police and public safety services to the university community, including enforcement of state statutes and university regulations, without bias or prejudice.

To encourage and develop interaction with students, faculty, staff and visitors in order to identify their expectations of the Campus Police Department.

To educate university community members in their roles as partners of crime prevention and effective problem oriented policing.

To develop and maintain partnership with on-campus and off-campus resources in assisting us in providing the broadest spectrum of public safety services possible.
