This scholarship is made possible by the generosity of UNCA Psychology Department graduates and faculty members, on behalf of Dr. Theodore (Ted) Seitz, professor emeritus and long-term chair of the department. The endowment allows the UNCA Psychology Department to award $500 each academic year to one undergraduate psychology major.
To qualify for the scholarship each applicant must:
1) be a rising junior or senior;
2) be a declared psychology major;
3) have completed at least 12 semester hours of UNCA psychology courses;
4) have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; and
5) have earned at least 9 credit hours per semester for each of the past two
semesters.
Special consideration will be given to students who
meet any of these criteria:
1) financial need;
2) non-traditional students; and
3) paid or volunteer work while going to school.
Applications must be submitted by March 28th. The application form will include a one-page essay that highlights the applicant's aspirations and qualifications as a promising future psychologist.
A scholarship selection committee chosen by the
Chair of the Psychology Department will review the
applications. Applicants will be notified of the
committee's decision by mid-April.
