The Theodore Seitz Scholarship

This scholarship is made possible by the generosity of UNCA Psychology Department graduates and faculty members, on behalf of Dr. Theodore (Ted) Seitz, professor emeritus and long-term chair of the department. The endowment allows the UNCA Psychology Department to award $500 each academic year to one undergraduate psychology major.

To qualify for the scholarship each applicant must:
1) be a rising junior or senior;
2) be a declared psychology major;
3) have completed at least 12 semester hours of UNCA psychology courses;
4) have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; and
5) have earned at least 9 credit hours per semester for each of the past two semesters.

Special consideration will be given to students who meet any of these criteria:
1) financial need;
2) non-traditional students; and
3) paid or volunteer work while going to school.

Applications must be submitted by March 28th. The application form will include a one-page essay that highlights the applicant's aspirations and qualifications as a promising future psychologist.

A scholarship selection committee chosen by the Chair of the Psychology Department will review the applications.  Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by mid-April.
