What will my family do while I am attending Summit?
There is an exciting, informative session planned for families of new students. This session will allow families to ask important questions to the different office representatives from across campus. There are also campus and library tours offered.

Do I move in during Summit?
All new residential students move into their residence halls on the first day of Summit. For Fall 2008, the first day will be August 15.

What is Summit?
Summit is UNC Asheville's orientation program.

How long is Summit Phase II?
The Summit Phase II Program for freshmen is a four-day program with special events Friday through Sunday before the start of classes on August 19. The Summit Program for transfers is one day in length; however, transfer students are invited to participate in the special events that occur during the freshmen program.

What is the purpose of Phase II?
There are four goals of Phase II. The first goal is involvement. The entire university community is involved in the Phase II Program. In the days before school starts, the campus is focused on its new students. The second goal is our mission. Through Phase II we want to enhance first year students' understanding of the mission and values of the university. The third goal is connections. We want a seamless transition for all new students into the institution by assisting them with the familiarization of their educational responsibilities, university programs and services, and the UNCA campus culture. The forth goal is support. The new students will be provided with a positive academic and social experience at UNC
They will gain knowledge of the resources that are available and the knowledge on how to access those resources. We want you to feel comfortable with your new "home away from home."

Who is Phase II for?
Phase II is for all new students attending UNCA for the first time. Both freshmen and transfers have their own programs; however, they are both invited to participate in any and all activities during the Summit Program.

Do I have to attend Phase II?
This program is required for all new students and is a great way to get your UNCA career off to a good start. Phase II is the perfect place to meet other students and start making connections that will help you to feel at home at UNC Asheville.

What does Phase II have to offer for me?
As you go through Phase II, you will learn about our campus, services offered to students, organizations, registration information, and get an overall picture about what it is like to go to a liberal arts university. This program will also allow you to get to know other new students, current students, and faculty and staff of various departments and offices. During Phase II, students hear the ins and outs of campus life, get to know their new UNCA family, and enjoy entertainment and guest speakers on topics related to college life.

During Phase II, students will be given a weekend with nothing to do but make friends.  This opportunity can never happen again. No homework or projects. Just time to meet new people.

When is Phase II?
For the Fall of 2008, Phase II is scheduled from August 15-17.

Do I move in during Phase II?
All new residential students move into their residence halls on the first day of Phase II in August.

When will I be able to register?
Most new freshmen will be able to register from home after attending Phase I.
