2/9/12 Sustainability Subgroup Meeting, HIG 223
In attendance: Rob Nelson, Melissa Acker, Scott Arico, Dee Eggers, Macon Foscue, Don Gordon, Ed Katz, Max Queen, Norm Richards and Christine Riley.
Rob Nelson called the meeting to order at 12:35 pm.
Don Gordon presented the University of Buffalo’s High Performance Building Guidelines which UNC Asheville has been following with permission from UB. Don believes this model is one of the very best, most comprehensive set of guidelines available. The standards far exceed those of a LEED certification, which is often considered a high standard.
The State Energy Office awarded UNC Asheville a grant to recognize and advance our statewide leadership in energy conservation. Part of the work that has been done is to update our energy policy. Our current policy is 15 years out of date. Ed Katz will bring the draft policy to this group in April.
Dee Eggers presented on model sustainability plans.
Christine asked the subgroup to recommend the components/categories of a campus sustainability plans that they would like to include in our own plan. These will be compiled for discussion at our next meeting.
Rob concluded the meeting at 2:00 pm.
