UNC Asheville Students Display Video Art Installations

UNC Asheville’s Digital Video Art Class, a diversity intensive course in the Multimedia Arts and Sciences Program, will host an exhibition of student work from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in UNC Asheville’s Alumni Hall, Highsmith University Union. Projects combine video, sound and everyday objects to examine issues of utopia and dystopia. Single-channel video projection, multiple channel video installations, interactive video installation and multi-monitor installations will be on view. The event is free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville’s Multimedia Arts and Sciences is an interdisciplinary program in which students and faculty work in close collaboration with colleagues and peers from a variety of arts and sciences programs. Based on their choice of emphasis areas and electives, students develop a solid foundation in video art and production, interactive art and design (including Web design), and two- and three-dimensional animation. Through a balance of courses in theory, criticism and practice, students develop an understanding of design principles as applied to digital media. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, students will have the technical experience, theoretical background and problem-solving skills necessary for careers in multimedia or for graduate studies.

For more information, contact Lei Han, UNC Asheville assistant professor of Multimedia Arts and Sciences at 828/251-6291.
