"Flame" by Regina Shackelford

"Omniscient," an exhibition featuring larger-than-life paintings of hands by UNC Asheville senior Regina Lee Shackelford, will be on display November 26-December 14 at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery, Ramsey Library. A reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the gallery. The show is a culmination of Shackelford's work toward a bachelor of arts degree at UNC Asheville.

Shackelford holds an associates degree in fine arts from Coastal Carolina Community College. She has exhibited in several exhibitions and received several awards, including Best in Show for an exhibition at the Greenlife Community Center. Her work has been described as expressive, metaphysical, mystical and psychedelic.

"I am interested in how humanity, the environment and their Creator relate to each other in a harmonious way," she said. "I portray the various dimensions of these relationships by depicting the omniscient hands embedded in an abstract and imaginative space. My work physically represents aspects of the supernatural."
