UNC Asheville Chancellor Anne Ponder Honored by UNC-Chapel Hill
CHAPEL HILL -- UNC Asheville Chancellor Anne Ponder took the stage Friday morning (October 12, 2007) at Memorial Hall to receive a Distinguished Alumna Award from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Several hundred people attended the ceremony, which was part of UNC-Chapel Hill's annual University Day. Chancellor Ponder earned bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill, finishing her doctorate in 1979. The Distinguished Alumna and Alumnus Awards, which originated in 1971, were also presented Friday to Clyde Richie Bell of Chapel Hill; D. Benjamin Cameron of New York, N.Y; Alan Stewart Murray of Greenwich, Conn.; and Charles Thomas Scott, of Norcross, Ga.
