"Market" by Carolyn Fryberger

“Women’s Work,” an exhibition featuring 30 color photographs by UNC Asheville senior Carolyn Fryberger, will be on display October 2-31 at UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library Third Floor Gallery. A reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in the gallery. An artist talk will be given at
4:30 p.m.

Fryberger, an environmental studies major, traveled to Ghana this past summer to volunteer with the Atabu Women’s Development Association in the village of Atabu in the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa. As part of Operation Crossroads Africa, a New York based program which sends volunteers to about a dozen African countries each year, Fryberger worked alongside the women for two months, learning to make soap and do beadwork while gaining insight into the opportunities and constraints of the life of Ghanaian women.

The gallery is open during regular library hours. Admission is free. For hours of operation, call UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library at 828/251-6546.
