UNC Asheville to Host Talk on Hurricane Ivan

UNC Asheville will host a talk on new research about the 2004 storm, Hurricane Ivan, by atmospheric scientist Matt Eastin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in UNC Asheville's Karpen Hall, room 011. In his talk, Eastin will discuss recent investigations into the role of tornadic supercell thunderstorms within the large circulation of Hurricane Ivan. The event is free and open to the public.

Eastin's research focuses on all aspects of tropical meteorology, with emphasis on tropical cyclones and severe weather systems. He holds a doctorate in atmospheric science from Colorado State University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at NOAA Hurricane Research Division. Eastin currently teaches geography and earth sciences at UNC Charlotte.
