Registration is now open for Effective Teacher
Training, a helpful course for those teaching and substituting in
North Carolina public school systems. The class is offered through
UNC Asheville’s Extension and Distance Education Office.
Effective Teacher Training will cover a variety of subject areas,
including North Carolina public school policy and course of study,
behavior management, sub packets, strategies for students with
learning disabilities, emergency procedures and legal issues. The
course qualifies as a continuing education unit (CEU) for
certification renewal and for the No Child Left Behind Act.
The class will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on four consecutive
Saturdays from October 20 to November 10 on the UNC Asheville
campus. Cost is $75 plus textbook, which is available at the UNC
Asheville bookstore. Participants will receive a certificate of
completion. Three CEU credits are available with a $15 processing
fee due with a completed form at the end of the class. Class size is
limited. Early registration is suggested.
