UNC Asheville Hosts Exhibition of Quilt Art

“One Uncommon Woman’s Quilt Art,” an exhibition featuring some 38 quilts by local artist Cheryl Alderman, will be on view from March 1-31 at UNC Asheville’s Blowers Gallery. A reception with the quilter will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, in the gallery.

Alderman, a member of the Asheville Quilt Guild and Fiber Alliance, specializes in quilting without patterns or firm plans. She works almost exclusively with batiks and pays special attention to texture and embellishment in her designs. Alderman is a Fairview resident and associate director of N.C. State University’s engineering programs at UNC Asheville.
