UNC Asheville Named a "Best Value" by Princeton Review;
One of Only Four North Carolina Institutions to Make the List

In rankings released today, UNC Asheville was named one of the best college values in the nation, according to The Princeton Review’s college guide, “America’s Best Value Colleges.” The book’s editors listed just 81 public and private institutions with outstanding academics, low to moderate tuition and generous financial aid packages. N.C. State University, UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Greensboro were the only other North Carolina institutions to be included.

The guidebook praises UNC Asheville’s growing national academic reputation, noting that the University “offers the quality education of a private school at a public school price.” It also favorably notes the University’s numerous academic options, small class size and strong focus on the liberal arts.

Faculty received high marks from their involvement with students. “The professors are extremely approachable and – much to the chagrin of some students – will notice if you ditch class,” said the guidebook.

The ranking is just one of many recent accolades. Last fall, UNC Asheville was ranked the fourth best public liberal arts university in America by U.S. News & World Report and was listed among The Princeton Review’s “The Best 357 Colleges.”

The University of North Carolina at Asheville, a four-year public liberal arts university located in the mountains of western North Carolina, has earned a national reputation for its programs in the humanities, undergraduate research and environmental studies. UNC Asheville ranks fourth in the nation among public liberal arts colleges in the newest U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”
