UNC Asheville Hosts Student Art Exhibition October 14-24

Work by some 27 UNC Asheville student artists will be on view at UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union Gallery October 14-24. A variety of media will be represented, including sculpture, painting, drawing and ceramics. Eight professors served as curators of the exhibit, each selecting three students to display their work. An opening reception will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in the gallery.

A wall-sized mural, “The School of Athens Project,” will also be on display. Created by students, faculty and community members, the work-in-progress is comprised of painted panels modeled after Raphael’s famous work.

Participating students include: Cheryl Andrews, John Burdett, Jeff Ceaser, Monica Combs, Max Cooper, Ben Crofoot, Ian Dennis, Krista Dourte, Marian Dowsett, Andrew Fansler, Anna Goist, Lacey Haslam, Silas Haslam, Cody Hulme, Adam Hutchins, Heather Knight, Michael McConnell, Corey McIntosh, Lisa Nance, Adrienne Outcalt, Sam Owen, Angela Polly, Kim Robinson, Tom Schram, Marian Sinks, Jennifer Skees and Charla Wall.

The gallery is located on the ground floor of UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union. The gallery is free and open to the public from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
