UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery to Host "Hands" Photography Exhibit

An exhibition entitled “Hands,” featuring some 30 black-and-white photographs by Asheville artist Mary Henderson, will be on view June 3-July 29 at UNC Asheville’s Blowers Gallery. The exhibition features a study of hands in motion, including images of the hands of artists, musicians and animal rehabilitators at work.

Henderson, a Buncombe County native, is a self-taught nature photographer. Her popular photographic note cards and Mountain State Fair “Best in Show” photographs focus on local flora and fauna. This is her first exhibition.

When not photographing, Henderson works as a veterinary technician at the Animal Hospital of North Asheville. She also holds a permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department to rehabilitate orphaned and injured birds of prey and migratory songbirds.
