"Asheville Revisited" Art Exhibition Opens at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery
An exhibition entitled “Asheville Revisited,” featuring some 25 paintings by local artist Gloria Gaffney, will be on view from April 1-28 at UNC Asheville Blowers Gallery. Gaffney, an Asheville resident, renders cityscapes of downtown Asheville in oil paintings and pen and ink drawings. She is known for her “en plein air” technique, completing the artwork at the site of inspiration. Her work can be seen at the Biltmore Estate winery, where she designed a 26-foot overhead border, as well as Kress Emporium, where she exhibits year-round. Gaffney designed the 2004 Bele Chere poster for the City of Asheville, along with numerous posters for the Asheville Lyric Opera. Gaffney teaches painting at UNC Asheville’s College for Seniors. Blowers Gallery, located on the main floor of UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library, is open during regular library hours. For hours of operation, call UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library at 828/251-6546.
