UNC Asheville Students Display Digital Video Art InstallationsUNC Asheville’s Digital Video Art Class, a course in the Multimedia Arts and Sciences Program, will host an exhibition of student work from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union Alumni Hall. Ten students will exhibit installation projects exploring issues of identity and expression through multimedia presentations. Projects combine video, sound and everyday objects to make statements on topics such as war, voyeurism, humans and nature, and real and virtual space. Single-channel video projection, multiple channel video installations and multi-monitor installations will be on view. The event is free and open to the public. UNC Asheville’s Multimedia Arts and Sciences program is an interdisciplinary study of art, computer science, drama, mass communication and music. The program’s mission is to educate students using current multimedia theory as a springboard for effective communication in digital environments. Based on their choice of concentration, students develop a foundation in two- and three-dimensional animation, video production, Web site development, interactive design and sound recording.
