UNC Asheville's Issues Forum to Explore American Trade DeficitUNC Asheville’s Economics Club will host a community Issues Forum to explore “Two to Tango: American Spenders and Foreign Savers” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, in UNC Asheville’s Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. Robert Tatum, UNC Asheville assistant professor of economics, will discuss America’s trade deficit and what it means for the nation’s economy as a whole. The event is free and open to the public. Tatum holds master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from Indiana University. His research interests include macroeconomics, monetary theory and international economics. His current research project examines the impact of trade liberalization on the macroeconomy. Tatum joined the UNC Asheville faculty in 2004. He taught previously at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. UNC Asheville’s Issues Forum encourages discussion among faculty, staff, students and the community on current issues in an informal and friendly manner.
