UNC Asheville Offers Required Teachers' CourseRegistration is now open for Effective Teacher Training, a required course for teaching and substituting in some North Carolina public school systems, including Buncombe County and Asheville City public schools. The class is offered through UNC Asheville’s Special Academic Programs. Effective Teacher Training will cover a wide variety of subject areas, including North Carolina public school policy and course of study, behavior management, sub packets, emergency procedures and legal issues. The course may qualify for renewal certification credit for teachers who receive prior approval by their school districts. The class will meet from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on four consecutive Saturdays January 22-February 12 on the UNC Asheville campus. Cost is $75 plus textbook, which is available at the UNC Asheville bookstore. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. Three continuing education credits are available with a $15 processing fee due with a completed form at the end of the class.
