UNC Asheville Senior Holds Interactive Sculpture Exhibition
"Push," an interactive sculpture exhibition by UNC Asheville senior Sean Pace, will be on view at the Organic Steel Studio from October 8-22. An opening reception will be held from 6 p.m. until on Friday, Oct. 8, in the gallery. Organic Steel Studio is located at 109 Roberts St., next to the Wedge Gallery in Asheville’s River District. The opening reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. Crafted from recycled materials, Pace’s artistic pieces are working machines, drawing in the viewer to be a part of the sculpture. "My intention is to bring people together through the joint experience of a combination of concepts, entertainment, culture and interaction," said Pace. For example, "The Class War Limo" can be climbed on and pedaled, while "The Deconstruction of a Piano Lesson" urges viewers to jump on a pogo stick to play music from a modified piano. The exhibition is the culmination of Pace’s work toward a bachelor of fine arts degree at UNC Asheville. For more detailed driving directions or information, call Pace at 828/582-3647.
