UNC Asheville's Writers at Home Series Continues with Poetry Reading

UNC Asheville's 2004-05 Writers at Home Series continues with readings by members of Kathy Sheldon's Great Smokies Writing Program fall poetry workshops at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of Western North Carolina writers and UNC Asheville. The event is free and open to the public.

Sheldon's poems have appeared in literary journals such as "Plainsong" and "The Florida Review." She is a graduate of the Iowa Writer's Workshop and has taught at the University of Iowa, Warren Wilson College and the Asheville Poetry Festival. Sheldon writes poetry, fiction and gardening books.

Students in Sheldon's workshops have been working to strengthen their poetic voices by sharing their work, receiving critiques and writing new poetry.
