UNCA Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings by Aly Goodwin and Naomi JohnsonUNC Asheville's Writers at Home fall series continues with readings by Aly Goodwin and Naomi Johnson at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program. The event is free and open to the public. Goodwin, a native of North Carolina, has had her poems appear in several reviews and won first place twice in the N.C. Poetry Society's annual contest. She received a James Larkin Pearson award from the Poetry Council of N.C. Johnson's fiction, non-fiction and poetry have appeared in a variety of publications. She was the recipient of a Pillsbury Foundation Creative Writing Grant and a Syvenna Foundation Fellowship. Johnson has worked as a translator, an ESL teacher, and a counselor for children of domestic violence. For more information, call UNCA's Literature and Language Department at 828/251-6411.
