Dewitt Tipton

The North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement will dedicate a new grand piano with a concert of classical music performed by Dewitt Tipton at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, in the Reuter Center on the UNCA campus. The piano was given to the Reuter Center by the College for Seniors piano students and instructor Marla Woeckener in memory of Marilyn Sylvester. The event is free and open to the public.

Dewitt is the founding director of the Asheville Symphony Chorus and director of the music theater program at Mars Hill College. He also serves as musical director for the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre and the Charlottetowne Players. Dewitt has performed with a number of prestigious vocalists, including soprano Jacquelyn Culpepper for South Carolina Educational Television; with soprano Sharon Munden at the International Festival for Young Concert Artists; and with baritone Kenneth Roberson in his Marilyn Horne Foundation New York debut.

For more information, call the N.C. Center for Creative Retirement at 828/251-6140.
