UNCA Knowledge Bowl Kicks Off October 25The first round of the 36th annual UNC Asheville Knowledge Bowl gets under way at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at UNCA's Karpen Hall. Twenty-three high school teams from across Western North Carolina have entered this year's event. Each school sends teams of six students to answer an array of questions written by UNCA faculty members on topics ranging from science and mathematics to history and literature. Some 25 UNCA faculty and staff and 30 students have volunteered for the event. Saturday's eight highest scoring teams advance to the final round which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in Karpen Hall. The winning team receives $400 and the opportunity to move on to a national competition. Participating high schools are Brevard, Clyde A. Erwin, East Henderson, East Lincoln, East Rutherford, Enka, Hendersonville, Lincolnton, North Buncombe, North Wilkes, Pisgah, Polk County, Rutherford Spindale Central (two teams), Shelby, St. Stephens, Swain (two teams), T.C. Roberson, West Lincoln (two teams) and Wilkes Central (two teams). A team from Wilkes Central was the 2003 winner. The Knowledge Bowl is co-sponsored by Sodexho, Pepsi and Entenmann's. the American colonies. ** What is the name of the blood vessels
that allow blood to flow away from the heart? ** Name the man who pummeled Mike Tyson to
