"Swimming Pool Series"

UNC Asheville will host an evening with noted photographer Mark Reid at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in UNCA’s Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Reid, who recently relocated to Asheville from the Northwest, will discuss his creative process and show examples of how that process has changed over time. He will share how he is locating themes for his work in his new environment. He will also talk about balancing creativity and earning a living as an artist.

Photography has been a life-long pursuit for Reid. Taking photographs since the age of eight, Reid visually expresses his emotions and perceptions of the world through his work. Traveling extensively has allowed Reid to depict many different places and people. His work is represented in homes, galleries and museums across the United States and New Zealand. Government agencies, university and museum publications and magazines have featured Reid’s photographs. He has led workshops, taught classes and coached people to realize their artistic goals. Reid’s work will be exhibited at Blue Spiral 1, 38 Biltmore Ave., in January.

This event is sponsored by UNCA’s Arts and Ideas Program, ArtFront and the Art Department.
