Loretta Holloway to Perform with UNCA's Jazz Lab Big BandJazz, blues singer, Loretta Holloway will perform with UNC Asheville's Jazz Lab Big Band at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in UNCA's Lipinksy Auditorium. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Holloway, known for her powerful voice, has shared stages with Bill Cosby, Whoopi Goldberg, Gary Shandling, Don Rickles and Jay Leno. In addition to singing, Holloway has appeared in several movies and commercials. She was also hired to sing the theme song for the movie "Blackjack." Originally from Belton, S.C., Holloway began performing in small jazz clubs to pay her college tuition. Since then, Chicago's leading jazz critic called her "the best jazz singer in the city." Variety magazine referred to her as "the little lady with a big voice." This event is sponsored by UNCA's Music Department and the Cultural and Special Events Committee.
