UNCA Hosts Talk about Genocide in Guatemala Oct. 16

As part of UNC Asheville’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, Sabino Perez, a Guatemalan human rights worker, will discuss justice and genocide at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, in the Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. Perez’s talk, "Impunity: We Say No," is free and open to the public.

Perez is a member of the Association in Defense of Human Rights of the Ixcán and the Association for Justice and Reconciliation, a group of communities which have launched genocide cases against two former Guatemalan dictators.

The talk is sponsored by UNCA’s Multicultural Student Programs Office and the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala.

For more information, call event coordinator Andrea Quillian at 828/254-2537.
