UNCA Music Department Continues Fall Concert Season

Percussion and jazz take the spotlight in November as UNC Asheville’s Music Department continues its fall concert season. Both performances are open to the public; a $5 donation is requested at the door.

UNCA’s Percussion Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in Lipinsky Hall room 018. Under the direction of Byron Hedgepeth, UNCA students will play a variety of percussion works, including "Ritmica #5" by Amadeo Roldan, "Three Brothers" by Michael Colgrass and "Music For Pieces of Wood" by Steve Reich.

UNCA’s popular Community Jazz Band takes center stage for its 17th annual fall concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The band will perform a variety of classics under the direction of Lloyd Weinberg, including arrangements of "All or Nothing at All," "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Love for Sale."
