UNCA Concert Celebrates the Music of Duke Ellington Oct. 21

UNC Asheville’s Community Chorus and the Jazz Lab Big Band will celebrate the music of Duke Ellington with a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The event is open to the public.

Under the direction of Chuck Taft, the chorus will perform Ellington favorites, including "I’m Beginning to See the Light," "Come Sunday" and "Duke’s Place." Virginia McKnight will provide piano accompaniment.

Also on the program will be Ellington tunes arranged by Jazz Lab Big Band conductor Tim Haden. Peggy Lyn-Haden will be the featured vocalist.

A $5 donation will be suggested at the door to benefit UNCA’s Music Department.
