| For Immediate Release October 24, 2001 UNCA Offers Summer Science Program in England UNC Asheville will conduct a summer comparative science education program July 3-30, 2002 in cooperation with the College of Education, University of Bath, England. U.S. science teachers can visit English classrooms that are still in session and attend lectures on the new "National Curriculum," the historical development of the British education system and on global environment problems. The program includes field trips to areas of special educational interests such as Oxford University, the Slimbridge wildfowl and wetland field station, Kew Gardens and science museums. Anyone who is or has been involved with K-12 science education is eligible. The $2,375 fee covers tuition, ground transportation and private housing on the University of Bath campus. Participants’ spouses and/or dependent adolescent children may also attend at a cost of $1,187 each. Registration will remain open until the course is filled, but participants are encouraged to register prior to April 2, 2002.
