UNCA to Offer First On-Line Course

UNC Asheville will offer its first on-line distance education class, Principles of Accounting, during the Fall 2000 semester. It will be the first of three such courses offered this academic year.

The class will be taught asynchronously by award-winning instructor Carol Hutchinson. Students will log on to the class site at their convenience to access the lessons as well as the exams. Course work will emphasize the same topics usually covered in this class, including the procedural aspects of financial accounting and organizing accounting information for the preparation of financial statements.

Students are required to have access to a computer. To facilitate course work, students will be given a UNCA e-mail address upon registration.

Deadline to apply is Aug. 22, when the site will become available to students.
