| For Immediate Release November 30, 2000 UNCA Music Department Wraps Up Fall Concert Season Funky jazz, a swing dance and holiday music highlight the final selections of the UNCA Music Department fall concert season. All events are open to the public. -- Longtime local favorite, the UNCA Community Chorus, will join the UNCA Brass Choir and the University Singers for a concert of Christmas musical selections at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. A $5 donation to benefit the Music Department will be suggested at the door. -- In a musical double header, the UNCA Concert Band and the UNCA Jazz Lab Big Band will perform concerts at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The Concert Band, made up of UNCA students, faculty and friends, will perform works by Ticheli, Ungar, Rossini, Rimsky-Korsakov and King. The Jazz Lab Big Band will perform original compositions and arrangements by faculty and students. A $5 donation to benefit the Music Department will be suggested at the door. --With music provided by the 18-piece UNCA Community Jazz Band, a Holiday Swing Dance will take the floor from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, in UNCA’s Justice Center. Swing dance lessons with Eliot and Meredith Zaiken will be held prior to the dance. Beginner lessons will be held from 6-6:30 p.m, with intermediate lessons to follow. A $5 donation to benefit the Music Department will be suggested at the door. --Take a midday break and enjoy some seasonal cheer with a Holiday Concert at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The concert will feature festive performances by the University Singers, the UNCA String Ensemble, String Quartet and Concert Band. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
