Poet Peter Meinke to Read at UNCA Oct. 22

Critically acclaimed author and poet Peter Meinke will give a reading of his recent work at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at UNCA’s Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Meinke is the author of 11 books of poetry, the latest being "Zinc Fingers" (2000), "Scars" (1996) and "Liquid Paper" (1991), all in the prestigious Pitt Poetry Series. Among his many awards are the Olivet Prize, the Paumanok Award, three prizes from the Poetry Society of America, two NEA Fellowships in Poetry and the Flannery O’Connor Award for his short story collection, "The Piano Tuner." His book about reading and writing poetry, "The Shape of Poetry," was published last year. Meinke lives in St. Petersburg, Fla. With his wife, artist Jeanne Clark.
