Asheville Sales and Marketing Executives Association Establishes
UNCA Marketing Scholarship

An endowment of $24,000 from the Asheville Sales and Marketing Executives Association (ASME) to the University of North Carolina Asheville will translate into an annual scholarship for a deserving UNCA business major. Senior Johnathan Woodlee of Nashville, Tenn., is the scholarship’s current recipient.

"The award is a fitting symbol of the excellent working relationship that has existed between UNCA and the Asheville marketing community," said Charles Payne, treasurer of the Asheville Sales and Marketing Executives Association. "Our association has worked closely with UNCA marketing faculty in many endeavors over the past few years, and we have appreciated their contributions to our community. By giving this scholarship, we feel we are both giving something back and investing in the future."

Michelle Patrick, UNCA Management and Accountancy assistant professor and a member of the ASME board of directors, indicated that the scholarship will generate a yearly grant of over $1,000. As such, it is one of the Department’s most substantial and prestigious scholarships. "This scholarship will be awarded to our most talented marketing students," said Patrick. "Receiving this scholarship will mean a lot to a student--not only because it provides substantial funding, but also because it signifies great potential for a marketing career."
