Anderson Cooper to Give Founders Day Keynote Address
Anderson Cooper, anchor of CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, will give the Founders Day keynote address at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The talk is free and open to the campus community.

Civil War Historian to Speak
John Inscoe, professor of history at the University of Georgia, will speak on "Asheville at the End of the War" at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the Highsmith University Union Mountain Suite. The event is free and open to the public.

Jewish Historian to Speak
Eli Evans, preeminent historian of the Jewish South, will discuss "Reflections on the 350th Anniversary of the Arrival of Jews to North Carolina: War Between the Brothers from 1860 On," at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, in the Owen Conference Center. Free Fitness Assessments
Dominique Ennis, assistant director of campus life for wellness, is now offering free fitness assessments for students, faculty and staff. The one-hour assessment is valued at $300. The confidential, non-invasive tests include blood pressure, resting heart rate, height, weight, body fat, aerobic fitness, flexibility, and upper body strength. Fulbright Application Deadline is Approaching
The Fulbright Program aims to foster mutual understanding among nations through educational and cultural exchange. Each year, the program provides funding for approximately 1,000 American students from all disciplines to study or conduct research in more than 140 countries. Graduating seniors, postgraduate candidates and developing professionals and artists may apply. The campus application deadline is October 4.
