Nobel Laureate Sherwood Rowland to Speak
The Chemistry Department's Seventh Annual S.D.Squibb Distinguished Lecture Series will feature Nobel Laureate Sherwood Rowland. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1995 for his work in atmospheric chemistry, particularly concerning the formation and decomposition of ozone. Dr. Rowland will discuss "Our Changing Atmosphere: Stratospheric Ozone Depletion and Global Warning" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, in Lipinsky Auditorium. At 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, he will discuss "Hydrocarbons in the Earth's Atmosphere" in Lipinsky Auditorium.

Campus Ministry Offers Protestant Communion
Campus Ministry has begun offering a short Protestant communion service every Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Campus Ministry House. Protestant ministers of different denominations will take turns leading the service in their own tradition. A free light dinner will follow. All are welcome. for more information, call Rev. Registration Now Open for Financial Investing Classes
Special Academic Programs will offer "Educating Investors Through the 21st Century" at locations in Asheville and Hendersonville. The Asheville class will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays from September 21-October 12 in the Owen Conference Center. The Hendersonville class will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays from September 9-30 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension-Henderson County Center. Cost is $95 per person or $145 per couple. Deadline to register for the Asheville class is June 20; deadline to register for the Hendersonville class is August 30. Fulbright Application Deadline is Approaching
The Fulbright Program aims to foster mutual understanding among nations through educational and cultural exchange. Each year, the program provides funding for approximately 1,000 American students from all disciplines to study or conduct research in more than 140 countries. Graduating seniors, postgraduate candidates and developing professionals and artists may apply. The campus application deadline is October 4. Energy Tip
If your central air conditioning system isn't cooling all the rooms in your house evenly, consider installing individual fans or register boosters. These inexpensive automatic fans fit inside floor or wall vents and can increase air flow by as much as 20%.
