Health & Fitness Center Hours
Through Sunday, Aug. 15, the Health & Fitness Center will operate on a limited schedule. Hours will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. The pool will be open from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Regular hours will resume on Monday, Aug. 16. Questions? Call the Health & Fitness Center at 232-5650.

PSAT Prep Class
Registration is now open for a PSAT prep class offered by Special Academic Programs. The six-week class will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays from September 4-October 9 on the UNC Asheville campus. Cost is $275 and includes all study materials. Registration deadline is August 25. Late registrations will be accepted after August 25 for an additional $10 fee. Leadership Asheville Accepting Applications for 2004-2005 Program
Leadership Asheville is now accepting applications for the 2004-2005 class.  Following a two-day opening retreat in September, the program meets one day per month through May. In addition to topic/training sessions, all participants are given the opportunity to make a difference in the community by working on team service projects that address community needs. Tuition is $1,200; partial scholarships are available. For more information, contact Gerry Goertz at 251-6125 or leadership@unca.edu.

Leadership Training for Older Persons
Registration is now open for the Center for Creative Retirement's Leadership Training for Older Persons. This free, six-week course is designed to teach leadership skills to underserved and minority adults ages 50 and older who reside in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania counties. Leadership Training for Older Persons will meet from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays September 7-October 12, on campus. The application deadline is Monday, Aug. 16. Safety Tip
When hiking, skiing or paddling, wear sunglasses and a hat or visor. Sunlight reflecting off water and boulders can cause eye damage.

Energy Tip
Test your refrigerator seals by closing the door over a piece of paper that is half in and half out. If you can pull the paper easily -- you may need to replace the seal or adjust the latch.
