Dr. Jonathan L. Horton

Jonathan L. Horton
Jonathan Horton is a first year faculty member in the Biology Department. He recently completed his Ph.D. at Northern University and has since spent several years at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI) both as a researcher and teacher. He is in the  process of developing research collaborations with VPI, Appalachian State University, and Idaho State University. His research results have been published in several prestigious scientific journals, including Ecological Applications, Oecologia, Plant Ecology, and Tree Physiology. To support his research, Jonathan is an avid grant writer, having already been awarded over $100,000 in grants and others that are pending. His major research focus is in the field of plant physiological ecology.

COMING UP

"Vincent" Tickets on Sale
The one-man play "Vincent" will be staged at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, in Lipinsky Auditorium. "Vincent," which was written by "Star Trek" legend Leonard Nimoy, will be performed by veteran actor Jim Jarrett. Tickets go on sale March 29 and are $6 for students; $12 for faculty, staff and College for Seniors; and $15 general admission. Call 232-5000 to order your tickets by phone between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or stop by the Student Activities Office, second floor Dining Hall.

Open House

Help Sodexho Fight Hunger
In an effort to help fight hunger in our community, Sodexho is sponsoring the "Caring Cans Canned Food Drive" April 5-30. Cans of non-perishable food may be dropped off in the Dining Hall for donation to local food banks. Diners who donate five cans will receive a free meal. On- and off-campus groups, clubs and scouting troupes are also welcome to participate to earn free meals. Questions? Call Kristen Gibson at 251-6183.
