Dr. Keith Ray

Keith Ray
Keith Ray is Associate Professor in the Department of Health and
Fitness, and is Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs. Much of Keith's professional life has been centered around various aspect of health promotion and wellness, which has led him to have been involved in developing and leading a variety programs not only here at UNCA, but also at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, Western Carolina University, and Greensboro College. His vision and work has impacted both the student and faculty/staff components of the academic community.

Dr. Ray has written a textbook with Cheryl McClary, which is in its second edition and titled Wellness and the Liberal Arts. Keith's recent focus is developing smoking cessation initiatives for the 18-24 year old non-students. In addition, he is interested in the development of partnerships in WNC to address the major health and wellness problems of the region.

Bruce Wood Dance Company
The Bruce Wood Dance Company will take center stage at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, and Wednesday, March 24, at the Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place in downtown Asheville. The event is sponsored by UNCA's Cultural and Special Events Committee and Diana Wortham Theatre. Tickets are available now in 242 Dining Hall. Tickets are $6 for UNCA students (1 per I.D.), $10 children ages 12 and younger when purchased with other UNCA discount tickets, $12 faculty/staff/College for Seniors (2 per I.D.) and $25 regular admission when purchased on campus with other UNCA discount tickets. Religious Scholar to Discuss "Lost Christianities"
Dr. Bart Ehrman of UNC Chapel Hill will discuss "Lost Christianities: The Battles for Scripture and the Faiths We Never Knew" at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 1, at the Reuter Center. The talk will cover early Christian sectarian movements, including the Gnostics and the Jewish Christians, that did not survive the late ancient period.
