Dr. Cathy R. Pons

Cathy R. Pons
Cathy Pons is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages. Cathy is presently working on finalizing the third edition of a widely used introductory French textbook. In this effort she is writing this with A. Valdman (Indiana University) and Mary Ellen Scullen (University of Maryland). Their previous editions have been well received, having been adopted by over 100 colleges and universities. In recent years Dr. Pons has develop a variety of programs that have allowed students of the Foreign Languages to go abroad and has also involved international students and scholars coming to UNCA. To support these efforts, she has received over $100,000 in funding from several foundations and funding programs, including The Florence Gould Foundation, Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Program, and Pew Fellowship.
